MDX HYBRID combined waterjet and plasma cutting machine

 

The MDX HYBRID cutting center designed by PHENIX TECHNOLOGIE is a hybrid cutting machine combining high-pressure waterjet and plasma cutting, offering great flexibility on a wide variety of materials and thicknesses. Three working configurations are possible:

  1. Autonomous waterjet cutting
  2. Autonomous plasma cutting
  3. Hybrid combined cutting on the same part

Waterjet cutting relies on a high-pressure pump of 30, 50, or 150 HP, delivering up to 4137 bars.
It enables cold cutting without thermal deformation or damage to sensitive materials (plastics, foams, rubber, composites), with consistent precision up to 300 mm thickness.

Plasma cutting, for metal applications, offers several plasma generators:
Air plasma from 45 to 125 amps, for fast and economical cuts
High-definition plasma up to 400 amps, cutting up to 50 mm on steel, stainless steel, or aluminum for superior cut quality and clean edges, meeting the highest requirements.

Combined waterjet and plasma cutting, or the integration of both processes on the same machine, allows alternating finishing cuts and rapid cuts on a single part without transfer or repositioning.
This hybrid approach maximizes productivity, reduces investments in multiple equipment, and optimizes workshop space.
Controlled by the multi-process waterjet-plasma Oxyjet interface developed by PHENIX TECHNOLOGIE, the MDX HYBRID ensures simplified control and quick handling.

Designed for demanding industrial environments, it offers repeatability, reliability, low maintenance, and adapts to the needs of aerospace, automotive, metal construction, and composite materials sectors.

Technical Description

The MDX HYBRID combined waterjet and plasma cutting center is composed of a welded mechanical chassis with precision-ground mechanical guides.
The massive gantry supporting the very high-performance cutting head has dual motorization. MDX HYBRID is equipped with the multi-process OXYJET numerical control developed by PHENIX TECHNOLOGIE.

The X, Y, and Z axes feature:

  • Welded and ground mechanical frame

  • Rack and pinion transmission

  • Guidance by ball pads and prismatic linear rails mounted on the chassis, previously ground on a machining center

  • Brushless motors with incremental encoders

  • Protective covers against abrasives

  • Automatic lubrication

  • Water and air cleaning shower

  • Plasma generator (air or High Definition) from 45 amps to 400 amps

  • External high-pressure pump delivering 4137 bars from 30 HP to 150 HP

The advanced design of the MDX HYBRID and use of high-end components allow:
